So like the rest of the nation, I’m sure you watched the Prometheus international launch trailer as premiered during the first ad break of Homeland on Channel 4 this Sunday (29th April) in the UK. It’s undoubtedly become the most hotly anticipated film of the year and from watching the trailer I can’t disagree with the hype. If you’ve been living in a hole for the past week and haven’t yet watched the trailer, then look no further. I have added the trailer below so you can too join the #areyouseeingthis fan line up.
If you’re still unsure on the concept of the film, check out the explanation on the Prometheus Youtube page (or see below).
‘Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.’
Through an integrated campaign of above the line advertising and tapping into the viral power of Twitter, Prometheus’ screening has set many tongues wagging. As a world first, the international trailer was screened simulataneously on Channel 4, online and social TV app Zeebox. Twitter users were in tandem invited to tweet their comments and views of the trailer using the hashtag #areyouseeingthis through the encouragement their tweet could be aired live on TV in the next break ad. For all those fame hungry tweeters, this was the perfect opportunity for 20th Century Fox to understand their audiences in the most immediate form - and it seemed to have work as 4000 tweets were made in the space of an hour.
Premiere in London - 31st of May - Location TBC
The film is set to release on 1st of June 2012 nationwide.
Expected line up: Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Ridley Scott, Noomi Rapace, Guy Pearce and many more…
